Excellence in Science & Technology Finalists
10th June 2016
We were honoured to attend the prestigious Derby Telegraph Awards ceremony this month as finalists in the ‘Excellence in Science & Technology’ category.
The sell–out event took place at Derby College’s Roundhouse with 550 attendees celebrating ‘the crème de la crème’ of Derbyshire based businesses on a warm evening on Thursday 9th June.
The evening began with an exquisite champagne reception courtesy of Marketing Derby, with most people opting to enjoy their glass basking in the sunshine of the courtyard. Once seated guests were welcomed by weather presenter Emma Jesson and author and comedian Dominic Holland, who were the hosts for the evening.
The menu was delicious with a salmon and prawn starter and a succulent leg of lamb for the main. A silent auction took place with a variety of high value lots to be won. All proceeds raised by the auction went to the nights chosen charity ‘Rainbow Trust’ who care for families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. The evening’s entertainment included British-Armenian musician and comedian Kev Orkian who had everyone inside the grade two listed building in fits of laughter.
The highly anticipated awards ceremony began after dinner and was a celebration of innovative businesses across Derbyshire, both large and small. Spanning across multiple industries and areas of Derbyshire, guests were given a brief insight into the finalists through a short video. Winners were announced by their category sponsors and invited to collect their award from the stage. Although Data Clarity did not win, they were honoured to be runners up and receive their finalist’s trophy.
The winner of the Company of the Year award was HUUB Designs, triathlon suppliers, responsible for bringing the Jenson Button triathlon to Markeaton Park last year. The event will take place again this year on Sunday 17th July with Jenson Button himself competing.
The evening recognised businesses within Derbyshire that have contributed to the “fastest growing economy in the UK” (Marketing Derby) whilst celebrating innovation, creativity and excellence. The Roundhouse was the perfect venue in what was the world’s first ever railway roundhouse.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Data Clarity would like to congratulate all winners, finalists and sponsors. A big thank you to everyone involved in the night especially The Derby Telegraph, Champions (UK) plc and our category sponsor HSKS Greenhalgh. Congratulations to all the finalists and worthy winners and to Derbyshire!
