What an incredible few days it’s been at the World Travel Catering and Onboard Services Expo in Hamburg. As the halls buzzed with innovation, conversation and creating connections, we at Data Clarity were proud to stand alongside industry leaders, catching up with old friends, making new connections, and showcasing how we’re helping transform onboard experiences through the power of data.

Reimagining the Passenger Experience
Air travel is making a strong comeback. With global passenger numbers estimated to of reached 9.7 billion at the end of 2024 – and expected to double by 2042 – the pressure is on for airlines to go beyond efficiency and deliver truly memorable, meaningful experiences at every stage of the journey.
But the question isn’t just how to keep up. It’s how to stand out.
Throughout the week, we saw a clear theme emerge: how to use technology to deliver better, more human travel experiences. From AI-powered personalisation to frictionless inflight services, the focus was on making every journey not just smoother, but more meaningful.
“The Human Touch” – Putting people at the heart of tech
One of the standout sessions at the Taste of Travel Theatre was “The Human Touch”, where our very own Paul Bilham joined the conversation to tackle the delicate balance between automation and authenticity in the passenger experience.
It sparked exactly the kind of conversation we love to have: How can airlines embrace AI and automation without losing the value of human connection?
Yes, AI and data are changing the game – but it’s not about replacing people. It’s about empowering them. When airlines truly understand their passengers through data, they can better anticipate their preferences, ensure the right products are available onboard, and give cabin crew the tools they need to deliver service that feels personal and thoughtful – not transactional.
